Our role
My Solar Guy is the homeowner-facing brand of The Sol Seekers LLC. We provide solar education, bill and home-fit reviews, quote audits, proposal comparisons, and sales support. We are not a utility, and we do not represent every solar provider in California.
How the free review is paid for
The initial review is free to the homeowner. If you choose a system through a contractor or financing provider we represent, that provider may pay us a commission. You are never required to use one of those providers, and you may use the review to compare other options.
Who is responsible for the project
Before you sign, the written proposal and contract should identify:
- The legal contractor and applicable CSLB license information.
- The party that designs and installs the system.
- The system owner or financing provider, if different from you.
- Who handles workmanship, equipment, roof-leak, monitoring, and service obligations.
- Who to contact after activation.
Those names and responsibilities can vary by proposal. We do not place a generic partner license number on this page as though it belongs to My Solar Guy.
What the first review does—and does not do
- Initial fit check: your bill and utility tell us whether a deeper look is justified. They do not produce a responsible savings estimate by themselves.
- Proposal audit: we review price, equipment, sizing assumptions, payment structure, remaining utility charges, transfer and buyout terms, exclusions, warranties, and service responsibility.
- Data verification: if sizing needs proof, we ask for a recent bill or Green Button interval data before giving a final opinion.
- Optional comparison: if you ask for another proposal, we identify the provider and request permission before sharing your information or files.
Our decision standard
Every option has tradeoffs. Staying with the utility, paying cash, using a loan, choosing a prepaid structure, leasing, or signing a PPA can each be reasonable in the right situation. The job is to compare total energy cost and responsibility—not to force every homeowner toward the same product.
